Gen. Douglas MacArthur Flight Jacket Sun Glasses

Gen. Douglas MacArthur was an extraordinary figure in the history of America and of the whole world. Part of his image were the flight jacket sun glasses he wore.

Gen. Douglas MacArthur had a military career which spanned more than fifty years, and those were decorated all the way with well-deserved stars and crowns. His other decorations were his well recognized flight jacket sun glasses, which are even commemerated in a modern GI Joe toy to this day.

He became a general in the US Army during World War I and, except for a brief period of inactive service, Gen. Douglas MacArthur, with his sunglasses, remained a general until his career was cut short in the early 1950's during the Korean War.

Gen. Douglas MacArthur's battle tactics were aggressive and successful. But he was removed from the job as he pursued the Chinese Communinst army north. They retreated back into China, and MacArthur was trying to pursue them into Chinese territory.

Gen. Douglas MacArthur was relieved of his command just before his attacking army could chase the Communist troops back into China, from the north part of Korea. No-one knows if that might have triggered a world war, had he kept going.

General MacArthur, with his flight jacket sun glasses, was the most decorated man in America’s military history. His career was capped off with the Congressional Medal of Honor.

Gen. Douglas MacArthur's tactics and strategies are still studied in US military academies to this day, and his flight jacket sun glasses remain almost a trade mark of a great man.
